I just joined this tribe and am happy to be amoungst people who are into this too.
I'm still trying to prove our Mayflower connection through the Cook and Hopkins lines.
A few other family names are Bergot, Manning, Irwin, Plaine.
Any possible connections out there?

Re: New to this tribe
Tue, May 2, 2006 - 6:44 PMI'm also new to this tribe and relatively new to genealogy. I was glad to find a tribe about genealogy.
I can't claim to have any connection with Cook or Hopkins lines or as far back as the Mayflower. (The only Manning I know is Frankie Manning, the famous swing dancer.) Mostly, I've been a recent participant in a Family Tree DNA surname project and have primarily been trying to trace my Tucker family line.
I was also wondering if other members of this tribe have any advice about genealogy software for the Macintosh? Would you recommend Reunion 8? -

Re: New to this tribe
Tue, September 26, 2006 - 11:27 AMHI- I am new here too- though I have been researching on an off for about 15 years (the consequence of filling out a baby book-LOL). What a strangely addictive hobby.
Anyways, I thought I should add- I have COOK, IRWIN and MANNING lines, but these are not uncommon names- it might help to add an origin and/or time frame specific to the names you are hunting.
Mine (on these lines) are Irish, ending up in California (mostly, some Irwin in Canada).
Curious-just in case- who/when/where are your lines? -

Thu, September 28, 2006 - 3:21 PMHey Kirsten,
I've got almost all my Irwins in Canada and I think one or two in California. We should share info - maybe we're related! I'm mainly Irish as well.
