Hi. LuAnn here from rural Kentucky. We moved up last summer from Texas. DH's family on both sides go back generations in the county.
Family names: Braley, Smith, Whitt, Brown, Buol, Kuhnhold ... those are the ones I know at any rate.
Used to live in SLC and had access to all LDS Church's genealogical records at the Family History library. Yes, I was spoiled. :) Glad to see genealogy sections in public libraries now.

Re: Newbie from Kentucky
Mon, February 13, 2006 - 5:43 PMHello, newby from Kentucky. I am a newby myself and I came to California from Kentucky when I was three years old. My mama's family was all from there. The family home was in Valley Station. So alot of the family I'm trying to find is from there. My grandpa was Herman James Payne and my grandma was born Mary Lee Hardy. They were born 1889 and 1890, a "long" time ago. I desperately want to go back there to the Catholic cemetary in Owensborough where they are buried and find their gravesites (and perhaps other family members as well). Are you anywhere near that area? It's by Louisville.
